Asta "Asta" (Blue
Cream)
Born in March 1983, Asta had a beautiful tightly waved coat and a true
Cornish expression. She had kittens with Ch. Myowal Obah Redthunder and
Ch. Moomins Maximilian, many of which won extremely high show honours.
Once her kittens reached about 5 weeks old, Asta always felt she had done
enough for them and left them to be "finished off" by my Oriental
Spotted Tabby, Tulula, and later, by her own daughter "Lucy".
She much preferred sitting with me! Here are some of those kittens...
Lorrentino
Sally Samira (Cream Tabby)
Sally was Asta’s daughter to "Barry" and was collected from
me in 1984 by Magny Bjork of the Chribotin cattery in Norway. Magny chose
her name and called her after me "Sally The Beautiful Flower"
is the translation (I think!) She had lovely kittens to Buran’s Blue Adam.
Lorrentino
La Golondrina "Lucy"
(Blue Tortie Tabby)
Lucy
was "Sally’s" litter sister who was sold along with the other
sister, Lorrentino La Boheme "Poppy". After a few months, their
owner decided that "Lucy" was not what she wanted and so I bought
her back. This was definitely one of the better things I have ever done
as Lucy became the most prolific and reliable breeding queen I have ever
had the pleasure to love.
Amongst her many achievements was a litter of 8 healthy kittens when she
was seven years old. She is the Mother of Champion Lorrentino Wicked Lady
and Premier Lorrentino Cremede Lacreme.
Champion
Lorrentino Larry Lammchen (Red
Smoke)
Larry is probably the best known of Asta’s babies to "Max" and
had a meteoric show career, including Best Foreign Kitten at the Supreme
in 1985. He spent a very happy 13 years with my friend, Gill Cornish of
the Myowal Cattery, and features in the pedigrees of many winning lines.
Grand
Champion Lorrentino Chocmint Liquer
"Choccy" (Chocolate Smoke)
Choccy
is my first home bred Grand Champion, also to "Max", born in
1986, who, before the age of three, became the first ever Chocolate Smoke
Grand Champion Cornish Rex in the United Kingdom. Ironically, Choccy didn’t
call very often and only ever had one kitten,
Lorrentino
Salems Lot "Lottie"
who was born on my birthday in 1990! Unfortunately, Lottie herself miscarried
her only litter at 6 weeks so, I believe, this particular line was not
destined for breeding and I am happy they both stayed with me.
Grand
Premier Lorrentino Littlebrown Jug
(Chocolate Smoke) and Premier
Lorrentino Inka Lamazoo (Red
Smoke)
"Toby" and "Inka" were the only two kittens in the
1987 litter from "Asta" and "Max" but what quality!!!
Both had excellent show careers, although "Inka" often had to
settle for second place to "Toby" who became the first ever
Chocolate Smoke Grand Premier Cornish Rex in the UK.
Grand
Champion Lorrentino Jingo Lobo
"Jingo" (Black Smoke)
Jingo was eight weeks old when my twins, Gavin and Nathan, were born in
January 1989. He was from a litter of five kittens, and was the smallest
and skinniest of the boys. For whatever reason he got very attached to
the babies and seemed to loiter when all the others were sold. He was
never destined to be a Stud Cat and, once, I even entered him in a show
as a neuter but changed my mind when he sired a litter of kittens! His
show career
was very long and I know he thoroughly enjoyed all the attention. He became
a Champion before he was two and a Grand Champion at the grand old age
of eight and three quarters! He was the cat I could always bring out if
I had nothing else to show. It is just over two years since I lost him
and I still miss him very much.. we all do. His kittens have also done
very well on the show bench, including Premier Lorrentino Lonelythisxmas,
Champion Lorrentino Jingos Loverman, Premier Lorrentino Lolabijingo and
Champion Lorrentino Leaderofthepak.

Desdemona "Dee-Dee"
(Tortie)
Dee-Dee was born in April 1983 and was the most vibrant Tortie I
have ever seen. She was a wonderful Mother who produced lots of beautiful
kittens to Ch. Myowal Obah Redthunder. Although she suffered an inner
ear infection when she was eight years old, which left her with a slight
head tilt, she continued to live a full and happy life for another four
and a half years.
These are some of her babies:-
Lorrentino
Louisa "Weedy" (Red
Tabby) and Premier
Lorrentino Leroy (Black)
Born in 1984, Weedy was the tiniest kitten with an enormous will to live.
Not only did she live she went on to produce a litter of seven kittens
to "Max" which included Lorrentino
Louis, Grandfather of my "Sylvia".
Weedy’s litter brother, "Leroy", also did very well on the show
bench.

Champion
Lorrentino Red Lightning (Red
Tabby)
"Lordi" went to Finland
in 1985 when he was five months old. He
is the Sire of International Grand Champion Fuinrando Xylographie and
features in pedigrees throughout Scandinavia, including recent imports
back into the UK from Sweden and Finland!!!
Champion
Lorrentino His Latestflame
"Marie" (Tortie & White)
Marie
was "Dee-Dee’s" daughter out of Moomins Magenta and is my first
bi-colour Cornish, born in 1987. Marie grew into a very beautiful young
lady but always retained her kittenish
ways. When she gave birth to her only kitten,
Lorrentino RU
Lonesumtnite (Black & White)
she wanted to play with him more than she wanted to nurture him! Consequently
he was brought up by my Devon, "Hayley", and Marie went back
to her toys!
Champion
Myowal Obah Redthunder "Barry"
(Red Tabby)
I
collected Barry from the Herts & Middlesex Show in 1983 from his Breeder,
Gill Cornish, where he won Best of Breed at his very first show. He proved
to be a prolific Stud cat, did very well on the show bench, and had the
best temperament I could have wished for. I was lucky to have him and
am proud that I still breed from his descendants.
Champion
Moomins Maximilian "Max"
(Chocolate Smoke)
Max was a very handsome boy, born
in 1984, and had a famous Grand
Champion Chocolate Tabby Point Siamese for his Grandfather! Like Barry,
he was a prolific Stud cat and was much admired at shows. He was very
loving and gentle and I am very proud that he lived with me and that I
have continued to breed from his line.
