Us
My first pedigree cat was, Sapphire, a Lilac Point Siamese I bought when I lived in Bristol in 1975. I suppose my introduction to Rex Cats came through Sapphire in that I bought The Cat Lovers Diary for 1976 which included black and white photos of a Devon Rex and a Cornish Rex. Initially, I didn’t think too much about them but, for whatever reason, I couldn’t get them out of my mind. Of course, I didn’t know how or where to acquire a Rex and it was to be five years later, when I had returned to my native Yorkshire, that I actually came across a card in a pet shop window advertising a Black Smoke Devon Rex kitten. This kitten was my lovely Lorre (because my then husband said he looked like Peter Lorre!) and he became Premier Kralahome Smokey Joe, bred by Lynda Ashmore.
This may give you some idea where my prefix LORRENTINO came from. My Mother liked horseracing and kept having a bet on a horse called Lorentino, because of my Lorre. I just changed the spelling and registered it as my prefix, so I would always remember my very first Rex. I am delighted to say that my cats have actually done a lot more winning than the racehorse ever did!! So now I have been showing and breeding Cornish and Devon Rex for over 20 years and I am still as interested and enthusiastic as ever. It is fascinating for me to see how far my lines have travelled over the years and I am amazed how many pedigrees, both Cornish and Devon, from all over the world can be traced back to Lorrentino lines.
I have met so many people over the years and some of them have become good friends. Like every hobby, there are those who dabble for a while and those who are in it for the long run. I think I now fall into that category!!! Lorrentino Rex Cats currently share my home with my very supportive husband, Stuart, our four Sons, Gavin, Nathan, Jorden, and Callum, our handsome German Shepherd Dog, Jake and our beautiful Eclectus Parrot, Scarlet. I hope you will enjoy looking at my Website which was started in March 2003 and that it will give you an enjoyable insight into Lorrentino Rex Cats through the years. Sally Goulty
